Flying Pets overseas
When flying you pet overseas you will need to find out what the regulations in the host country are. The regulations differ from country to country. One of the options when flying a pet overseas is to do the job yourself, and while this may seem like a money saving option, it can leave you with more problems than you started with.
Animal travel companies
An animal travel company is usually the best option. A professional outfit will handle all the details for you – such as inoculations and kenneling. Whilst Animal travel companies may seem expensive – it is well worth the price. A good pet transport company is one that has solid contacts in the host country. Because there are many variations of regulations, and because there are many people involved in moving a pet – a reputable animal transport company is critical.
Innoculations
Remember that when moving your pet there are vets, airlines and kennels involved. You pet will need to clear customs and be transported to a kennel. While all of this is not difficult, it is time consuming. Get it wrong and your pet will be put on the next aeroplane home – or worse, will be put down.
Kenneling
One of the oldest animal transport companies in South Africa is Animal Travel Agencies, with 30 years of experience they have reliable contacts and partners in most all countries around the world. They will also organise a dog box or cat box to transport you pet in – this wooden box will have to be custom made for you specific pet size – and will have to be treated to be allowed into other countries. Flying you pet overseas does not have to be a drag – leave it to the experts!
